I’m not sure what it is about me that makes me unable to make my delicious protein balls into beautiful round and even balls, but I just seem to have a massive fail every time I try. So I ask you to ignore what my protein blobs look like and focus on the goodness!
Packed with nuts, chia, flaxseed, dates and protein powder, the recipe is so simple but they really do taste good. My weakness is allowing myself to get too hungry, then eating anything I can find (normally going out of my way to the shop to get chocolate!). So for me it is important to have snacks on hand that aren’t going to sabotage my healthy way of eating. And this fit the bill, particularly if you get a bit peckish post workout.
Here’s what’s inside:
Handful of pecans
Handful of almonds
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
Grind the nuts together first, then add everything else into your mixer. My dates weren’t as gooey as hoped so my mixture didn’t stick together well. This is when the epic fail happened… I added water, way too much. It became like cake dough. SO I added some more chia and flax seeds but the mixture was still too sticky to mould into balls… hence the blobs! So one word of advice: be cautious with the water if you need to add it!
